THE WITCHES =========== Bell, book and candle The witches are on rampage Their activities beyond the pale By guess or by golly, Victory must return unbeaten Touch not a witch with ebola glove Else you will have a devil to pay They are agents of evil machinations Good to them is useless and wasteful Like to cast pearls before a swine And let it go back swimming in the mud But sometimes we close our eyes And cast our bread upon the waters Good is evil and evil is good. Do no good to any witch. Your chickens might come home to roost, If you give no damn and do them good. Those are the ugly creatures, Enemies of progress, angels of darkness. Never judge them during the day Their evil comes with the dawn Gazing at them in the morning They are as calm as a toad in the sun As merry as a cricket But appearance is deceptive Witches make evil go round They thirst for their neighbours’ tears Pay them no attention Lest you have ants in your pants They bite strong and hard And let you go blue around the grills. ======================= © Ugonna J.B.C.
