THIS JUST IN FROM THE EOC: The company that owns/operates the tanker unit that spilled jet fuel into Lemon Creek on Friday, June 26 is arranging for potable water to be available for residents whose sources have been compromised. Calgary-based Executive Flight Centre has contracted the delivery of water and is hoping to have tanks at the Crescent Valley and Winlaw fire halls later today. A number of logistical hurdles are being dealt with as quickly as possible to get water to residents for everyday use. All surface source users on Lemon Creek, Slocan River and the Kootenay River above and below Brilliant Dam to the confluence of the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers at Castlegar are affected by a Do Not Use order. Interior Health imposed the order following the spill in Lemon Creek and subsequent downstream fuel flow and contamination.
