TO BOX, OR NOT TO BOX, THAT IS THE QUESTION So question: box sets. Yay or nay? Someone asked me if I was going to release The Kane Trilogy in a box set, and I was like ... eh .... huh? I dunno. I see the appeal - all the books in one neat little package, usually priced affordably, all that good stuff. BUT - releasing the books in a box set would be creating direct competition against the individual books. Part of why I am able to keep my prices so low is because what I lack in royalties, I make up for in volume sold, but I do have to hit a minimum of units-sold-per-day in order to make my prices cost effective, as it were. I have been very blessed in that, thus far, Ive always met this minimum. But a box set could interfere with that, stealing sales way from the original books, and I cant price the box set higher than the individual books, or that would negate having a box set, so long term, I could be costing me money. But then again, sometimes box sets do drastically better than individual books. CONUNDRUM! Moments like this are when I realize traditionally published authors have it pretty nice, having people decide this stuff for them hahahaha
