TOPSY-TURVY Read Esther 8:1 through 10:3 A house in Germany makes visitors feel as though they are walking on the ceiling. The entire building—which includes a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom—was constructed upside down. Everything from a kitchen table with place settings to a toilet and shower hang strangely overhead, creating the illusion of a topsy-turvy world. When Mordecai left the king’s presence, he was wearing royal garments of blue and white, a large crown of gold and a purple robe of fine linen. And the city of Susa held a joyous celebration (Esther8:15). In the Book of Esther, things really do get turned on end. An exile becomes queen. A wicked leader falls from his position, while the object of his hatred is honored. A nation marked for destruction finds cause for celebration. God is able to transform a tragic situation into something beautiful. He can bring rejoicing from sorrow, praise from pain, and life from death. Nothing is too difficult for God. Trust Him to work on your behalf and turn your burdens into blessings. Thought for Today: God can do anything! Quicklook: Esther 8:15–17
