TROOP A NEWS RELEASE October 3, 2014 Two Unrestrained Females Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on I-10 Sorrento – Shortly before 8:30 am on October 3, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 10 east of US Hwy 61 in Ascension Parish. The crash took the lives of a 20 year old female and a 21 year old female, both from Baton Rouge. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 21 year old Keona K. Bobo was driving a 2002 Honda Accord westbound on I-10 in the left hand lane. For unknown reasons the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right. Upon doing so the Honda struck a tree. Both Bobo and her front seat passenger, 20 year old Brittany J. Bright, were unrestrained at the time of the crash. Both suffered fatal injuries as a result. Impairment is not suspected; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Bobo and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Excessive speed may have been a factor in this crash. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seat belt use. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up.
