Tail wagging - the secrets unveiled! Watching your dogs tail in wagging action can be very informative. Indeed, many of the low back and hip muscles blend into the tail muscles and therefore, the tail movements or position can act as a good indicator of what is going on in those regions. Many dogs with low back or hip pain will wag their tail in a more restricted range of movement (narrow band), go further on one side than the other, carry the tail generally lower or completely tucked under the pelvis and/or have difficulties lifting the tail high.
