Tammy Traugott Hall, Ronda Adkins, Patricia Holsinger, Kimberly Bayes You know you are a racing mom when: - You go without new shoes and wear the same outfit to the banquet each year because your young racer is growing and needed a new racing seat, racing shoes and uniform or jacket....again - You can pack a cooler expertly in minutes and can condense a full day of drinks and food in just one cooler and one paper grocery bag for 10 people - You can pack a track bag better than a beach bag - You know the pizza delivery number by heart for those late nights when everyone is working in the garage - The kids want to bring used race tires into their rooms to use as furniture - You are cramming trying to put together sponsorship proposals, order decals and design a new firesuit or jacket before the season starts in less than 30 days -Your me time is between heat races in a fold-out chair at the track with a book you have been trying to finish for months - You pay a neighbor kid to mow your yard because you are always gone on the weekends and dad and kids are too busy working on the car/kart - You chuckle at the newbie moms coming to the track wearing white pants or nice shoes -You have snuck kids into the pits and have brought babysitters to the track on occasion - You are prepared for dirty bathrooms and porta-potties and bring your own wipes and hand gel - You are on a first name basis with the head race scorer and all flagmen. -You go to the school often to sweet-talk the principal into letting your child make up days & school work because of big three-day weekend races - You have to watch your child race hard with other racers who can wreck them at any second - yet you hold back your fears and cheer them on - Even though you have stressed, sacrificed, wore yourself out and gone for months without visiting the hair salon, you LOVE the racing just as much as they do - and cant wait for the next time you can celebrate with your child when they win a race - their happiness is your happiness
