Tap your way to better health Emotional eating can be - TopicsExpress

Tap your way to better health Emotional eating can be dangerous. When we’re stressed or upset about something, it’s so easy to reach for food as comfort. Experts often suggest addressing the thing triggering our emotions to combat overeating. In addition to that, you might also want to try tapping. A new holistic diet trend coming onto the scene is face tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique. According to EFT proponents, cravings will diminish after tapping on certain acupressure points on the face and body. Sound too good to be true? Not according to a recent Medical Daily report (medicaldaily/can-face-tapping-spur-weight-loss-emotional-freedom-technique-may-curb-appetite-reducing-stress). As the article notes, “The stimulation of these points supposedly decreases activity in the amygdala — the part of the brain that controls the production of the stress hormone cortisol — linked to increased appetite, sugar cravings, and abdominal fat levels.” To improve emotional health, the tapping should be accompanied by a positive phrase, such as I love and accept myself even though I have this _____. This blank is your tapping target. Maybe it’s a muffin top, or jiggling arms … anything that is causing the unhappiness with yourself. Research on this technique is still limited, but one study from Harvard Medical School found that women who tapped for 15 minutes a day lost an average of 16 pounds in eight weeks and kept off the weight six months later. As someone who has had success with acupuncture, this similar technique doesn’t sound too far out there. I think it’s definitely worth a try. Check out this Metro article for a list of the tapping points and step by step directions to get the most out of your EFT session.
