Tears of the sun a 2003 movie by Bruce Willis depicted US navy seals dispatched to war torn Nigeria to rescue an American doctor and extradite her after civil war broke out between north and southern Nigeria,try google for more info about that movie. I remember watching the movie and thinking Nigeria would never degenerate into that,but in some few hours American troops will be on ground Bornu. Fast forward 2014 and Nigeria has created a monster in Boko Haram,and we are currently on the brink of impending conflict,with American troops poised to land on Nigerian soil today. Let us be very clear,we are at war. The gravity of the dangers ahead has not sunk into our systems yet,as we still manage to make humor from this demon about to consume us. For the avoidance of doubt,history tells us about countries around the world fighting terror on their home soil etc Afghanistan,Somalia,Pakistan,Kenya,Yemen and Iraq to name a few have been doing so for years and it never ends. War on terror is not a one day affair,and in as much as we desperately need American boots on ground,we are in for a very long ride,and the movies we all have been watching on screen is about to be reenacted right at our door step. I really dont know,how all this will end,but I am certain we will learn a thing or two about getting involved in choosing the right people to govern us in future. Over the years Nigeria has received numerous warnings from the United States intelligence agencies,warning us about the dangers ahead if we continue the gutter politics we run in the country,and each time the Nigerian Government dismisses the theory,claiming Nigeria will never degenerate without actually doing anything to correct it. It is not rocket science,with the way we practice governance in the country something had to give. Everybody is excited about the foreign help coming to Nigeria,nobody is thinking about the repercussions, Boko haram is not going to run for cover,this is war.
