Ten Books in no particular order (well, maybe.) 1- The Savage Detective by Roberto Bolaño When you finish this book, and really let all of the information sink in, there is a moment of eureka, a total epiphany that leads you to a good feeling. Reading such a dense, but awesomly written book is worth the time and effort. 2- For Whom The Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway I like war stories a lot, but this one has a special place because of the setting: the spanish civil war. So many stories within stories, all told from the perspective of a foreigner surorunded by deeply flawed characters and, alongside them, facing an impossible task: to defeat a superior force. 3- Putas Asesinas and Llamadas Telefonicas by Roberto Bolaño Theres a story about a soccer player named Buba in this collection. What else could you want? (But theres so much interesting characters and stories, some surreal, some absurd, but all unique and written in such a distinct voice.) 4- Animal Farm by George Orwell Just really really good. 5- The Sentinel by Arthur C. Clarke Amazing science fiction stories. He is a master of the craft 6- Fidel by Tad Szulc A portrait of one of the most polarizing political figures in the world. Written from what I believe to be the most objective point of view possible. Hes a hero, a vilian, a genius, a revolutionary, a zealot, but above all: a complex and extraordinary man. 7- American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis A book about a delusional man and a portrait of a materialistic, inauthentic, and absurd time persiod. The book supercedes the film by a lot. 8- Candide by Voltaire An amazing satire about a very tumultuous period in history. I loved this book when I first read it, and am probably going to read it again soon. 9- Empire of Illusion by Chris Hedges Great journalism, great insight, briliiant criticism. Kind of pessimistic... 10- A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess Classic. A book with so many philosophical points, and also a lesson in linguistics. Also, one of the greatest endings ive ever read. Lucas Moline John-Carlo Monti and Juanpedro David Salazar Make your lists! Adrianne Bonilla Im done bella :)
