Tense and sensitive times in Jerusalem. For the past 10 years we experienced a more relaxed atmosphere in the city whereby all residents enjoyed the possibilities that Jerusalem offered as a multicultural city. This is not the situation now. Fear, suspicion, and growing violence are the dominant forces at this time. It is hard to say what can be done now, since the negative forces are greater than all our humble attemps to reverse the trends. Still, I believe that the DNA of Jerusalem is the desire to tone down the tensions and move back to a code of restraint and realization that all alternatives are worse and could bring us all down.
