Terrible night last night! Three dogs went out to potty after dinner. Fierce barking! Hubby went to call them in, only two appeared! Third one, my baby boy Sean laying on ground! MOM 911!! He was still alive, but just barely! Couldnt walk, very disoriented, tongue hanging to side. Thought this was it! Didnt know what happened! Emergency vet clinic 1 1/2 hrs away, didnt think hed make it so just held him and waited. Vomiting and severe diarrhea started, then face started swelling. Didnt understand, he was fine just an hour ago! Snake bite, poisonous plant, allergic reaction...but to what? Very rough night! Went to vet today and she confirmed SNAKE BITE! We have a problem rattlers, so this must be the case? Hes a very sick boy! No ant-venom needed, platelet count good despite bleeding from rectum and mouth (not profuse). MUST watch from tissue wasting at the upper lip where he was bitten. So busy with him didnt notice younger sister was also bitten but venom was weaker and she is almost three times his size. Poor babys! Vet started antibiotic and followup for Thurs. Please keep them in your prayers. Tawny is doing good except for swollen face, Sean still in danger for next 48 hrs. I HATE SNAKES!! SERPENTS FROM HELL!
