Thank ya Chris Johnson for the Top 10 Film nomination thing! Also - TopicsExpress

Thank ya Chris Johnson for the Top 10 Film nomination thing! Also in no particular order; * The Life Aquatic (2004) - In my opinion the best note Wes Anderson has ever hit; it had those silly, fantastical elements of something like a Fantastic Mr Fox or a Grand Budapest Hotel, but also a real human element like a Rushmore or Bottle Rocket. * Synecdoche, New York (2008) - Underrated Phillip Seymour Hoffman film, really doesnt talk down to its audience, easily my favourite Charlie Kaufman movie (and I like a lot of his movies!) * The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Just an absolute classic, heartwarming without being cloying with fantastic performances all around. * 12 Angry Men (1957) - A master-class in screenwriting thats aged ridiculously well. Its twelve dudes arguing in a room for like an hour and a half, and its ALL fantastic! * Pulp Fiction (1994) - Still Tarantinos best (although maybe rivaled by Inglourious Basterds for me); almost every line of dialogue is memorable. * INTOLERANCE Series (2000-2004) - Cheating a little bit here, as INTOLERANCE is actually three separate animated shorts that form an entire story. A great story of sin and censorship, I highly recommend it to anyone who has 40 minutes to spare https://youtube/user/filmbilder/search?query=intolerance . Also it has Bill Bailey as a pitched-up Texan! * The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (1966) - Im not a huge western fan, but I was totally hooked by this film; the sparse narrative is a perfect compliment to that dense atmosphere going on the whole time. * Barton Fink (1991) - After not really being a fan of No Country or Burn After Reading, I figured I wasnt a Coen Brothers fan... and then I really enjoyed almost everything I watched from them after that! This has to be the top pick of those for me, though. * Before Midnight (2013) - This is really a joint award for the entirety of Richard Linklaters Before Trilogy, but as this is my favourite it gets the top spot. How hard is it to make a movie that is almost entirely a couple having mild-mannered conversations while walking around aimlessly? Well all of these movies made it seem effortless! * And im going to cheat a little for my number 10 spot and rattle off the 5 or 6 films I REALLY wanted to put here; Battle Royale, Boogie Nights, Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas, Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner, Lars & The Real Girl I now nominate Nick Hornsey and Donna Hairstylist N Hairextensions.
