Thank you Gary Pafford. I was new to windsor locks high school. Moved from the inner city of Hartford, Conn. to the suburban town of Windsor Locks. Entering High school, I was shocked, terrified, amazed at all of the white faces I saw. I have never seen so many white kids in one building. I walked the halls looking for someone that looked like me. looking for someone, something I could connect to. Finally I saw a black face, I sat next to him and said Hi..he grimminced..and looked away. After a week or so of walking around alone. This guy with a friendly smile and way asked me to attend "PF" I said yes. It changed my life. I found acceptance, love, and appreciation for who I was as a person. It pulled me out of my shell. Gary went on to mentor me in his own way. Keeping me included, giving me rides. Through his friendship I found Christ and it stablized a lost and troubled youth. Thank you Gary Pafford. Your friendship changed the course of my life.
