Thank you to the 40 anglers who netted a fantastic £1,169.55 for the Hospice at our annual fishing competition at Clavering Lakes on Saturday. The eventual winner was Craig Gibbons, from Sawbridgeworth, whose total catch weighed in at more than 70lb, while the runner-up was Hugh Halliday, from Enfield, with a combined catch of more than 50lb. This year’s prizes were sponsored by Newport Business Association, Clear IT Solutions and Nighthawk Enterprises. Andrea Pearce and Jean Wilson, from St Clare’s Clavering supporters group helped on the day by overseeing the weighing in and selling raffle tickets to boost funds.
