Thanks, friends, for the support, the opprobrium, the good will - TopicsExpress

Thanks, friends, for the support, the opprobrium, the good will and even the puzzlement resulting from some officer’s ‘banning’ of my books. I am also thankful for the offers to help, legally or financially. Im simply humbled. Of course no education officer can ban my books, and thats why I clothed the word in quotes, but there are acts that amount to banning, like when they order teachers not to buy these books and follow it up with warnings. All these have been done verbally and therefore very transient and difficult to catch, but also very effective. As you may well guess, these books must have made an impression in sales for them to catch the jealous attention of the officer. Now the sales in this particular location have abruptly stopped as they depended on the kindness of friends whose very positions and goodwill depend on these officers. My post was meant as an exposure and a sensitisation to such arbitrary acts. Action will follow, when the damage that may be visited upon these kind friends will have been reduced to a minimum—and Ill still need your support. Let me say that an officer like this one is like a god in these parts and his/her words alone may mean that someone is interdicted the following day and we may get into a litigant hell on earth. You are aware of the situation in Africa and Kenya where the demonic laws of power, ecclectically gathered from ancient Chinese pretender-philosophers, Machiavelli and modelled on Hitler, Pol Pot, Nguema Basogo Ndong and even Amin and Bokassa apply. One of these laws is the creation of fear. Fear unzips the pockets of the poor and the rich alike. Fear also unzips the skirts and trousers, so that Kenyans are robbed and raped in one breath—metaphorically, and literally, if you like. The raped-and-the-robbed may need to be protected first, before we fire the first shot.
