Thanks to Jim Herlihy for helping me confirm the R.I.C. insignia especially the colour of the ribbon for the medal received during the royal visit of King Edward VII to Ireland in 1903. This is my ancestor, Sergeant 54453 James Talbot, who was born on 12th June 1868. He served for 25 - years between 15th July 1890 and 1st October 1915. He served in Wexford as a constable from 29 April 1891 - attending Queen Victorias funeral in 1901. He was acting sergeant from 1/8/1907 and became confirmed as sergeant on 1st February 1909. He was transferred to Kilkenny on 1st November 1913 after his marriage on 4th September 1913. Tall at six foot, I take after him, this was him proudly showing off his chevrons. Thanks to Doug Banks who professionally added the colours. I am delighted.
