Thanks to all who have supported me this year with my music – solo (Bad Bob Bates), duo (Oil City Shakers) and bands (The Bandits and Ma Kelly’s Boys). It’s been quite a good year, and I’ve managed to tick off one bucket list ambition at least – an album of my songs (Bridge Street, Bad Bob Bates, available at bandcamp, itunes, etc., and to stream on various platforms including Spotify, Rdio etc – just search for Bad Bob Bates and, hopefully, enjoy) as a follow up to 2013’s “Trigger Finger”. I’m absolutely knocked out to have also laid down some electric and slide guitar for Steve Daggett’s new album, “Secret Diary of a Troubadour” – a belter of a release. Mind, I’ve learned that I’m not one of the talented few who can make a living from performing and recording music, so day job is back, house is secure (for now at least!) and I’m a weekend warrior again. I know my place ;) Expect more from The Bandits and Ma Kelly’s Boys next year, plus continued solo and duo work. I don’t think I’ll be able to finance another album in 2015 (the world won’t notice!). Maybe a Christmas EP…… got some ideas going for that. 2015: Stick to the important stuff. Stay safe, try to do things that make you and others happy and safe, and treat others how you would like to be treated yourself (unless you’re a masochist, of course). badbobbates.co.uk
