Thanks to everyone who has prayed for us and offered so much encouragement to us over the last week. It has certainly been a tough week. For those of you who havent heard, Don has been diagnosed with cancer. All we know now is that the gallbladder was cancerous and had spread through the wall of the gallbladder but not completely through to the very outer layer so we are hopeful that the cancer was contained within the gallbladder. He will see an oncologist Friday to schedule surgery. The doctor has already said he wants to do surgery sometime next week. He will go in the same incision and remove lymph nodes and the part of the liver that lays against the gallbladder. After surgery, we will determine the next steps as far as treatment. It was shocking, to say the least. It was the very last thing we expected to hear but, now that we are over the initial shock, fear, frustration, anger, etc, we are ok, ready to kick this cancers butt and get back to our normal chaotic lives. As Ive told Haleigh and Rusty, God has known all along that we would face this, and He is in complete control. We WILL praise Him in this storm and we WILL continue to make memories and laugh and enjoy our lives like we always have. Soon, we will look back at this time as a small bump in the road and a big learning experience. Please keep us in your prayers. Pray for complete healing for Don. Pray that not a single cancer cell will be found in his liver and/or lymph nodes. Pray that he will have a quick and easy recovery without getting discouraged. Please pray for our kids. Rusty is young and I know hes scared. He already misses hitting and throwing with Don.....its temporary but he still misses it. Haleigh is starting a new semester at Clemson with a difficult schedule. Last but not least, please pray that God will continue to fill each of us with a peace that surpasses all understanding.
