The ALS ice bucket challenge has raised an unprecedented £48 million in less than a month in a flood of donations from more than 1.7 million people. My eldest Son Scott (in lime green shorts!) taking the Ice Bucket challenge. I lost my best mate ever (my big Brother Dave) to this dreadful disease, he was just 60 years old. Anything that raises awareness and hopefully lots of money in the fight to find a cure for it has my wholehearted backing. I’ve just donated £50 via Just Giving (hopefully the following link will take you to the right place if you also would like to donate https://justgiving/4w350m3/donation/thank-you?type=direct), or Google MND and follow the links. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order. Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life. Although unable to take the challenge personally - on health and age grounds! I would like to nominate my other 3 Sons, Matt, Mike and Jack to do so – You have 24 hours Gentlemen.
