The Adventures of Maddie: A Labor of Love Monyetta Shaw, Founder and CEO of the Evan Grace Group, publishes and releases her first book entitled “The Adventures of Maddie”. Shaw, who is a young mother and businesswoman/entrepreneur, used to write poetry in middle school. She now re-introduces her passion to the world through her new children’s book. “Your life doesn’t stop when you have children,” she said. “I am very excited,” the longtime girlfriend of R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo said. “This is our newest project.” The Adventures of Maddie” is based on the love and life of her two year old daughter Maddie. The birth of Maddie and now her one year old son Mason have inspired her to write children’s books and to conquer the world. The book, which was published through Shaw’s company, the Evan Grace Group, is considered to be a labor of love. “This book is basically a love project,” said Shaw to a crowd at the private book release in Davio’s Italian Restaurant at Phipps Plaza. Shaw, who has a new perspective on life since the birth of her children, has more respect for stay-at-home moms. She wrote the book out of the love for her children. She wants to instill values, morals, and life lessons in her children and to leave the same messages in her books. “The Adventures of Maddie” is for all children, not just African American children, as six year old Maddie (in the book) shares and talks about her everyday adventures. Dancing, learning, playing, and even getting advice are all a part of Maddie’s experiences. The series of Maddie’s books has just begun and will follow the life of an adventurous, special, hardworking little girl tackling the values of life, according to Shaw. “We as parents want to instill those great things into our kids so that they can grow up to be beautiful people.” Shaw also shares some brief details about the next book, where Maddie is going to get a big surprise—a little brother. And the series will go on to tell stories and adventures of her little brother Mason. Ne-Yo was unable to attend the book release but through a video, showed his enthusiasm, support, and gratitude. “Thank you guys for coming out to Davio’s,” said Shaw. “This is actually one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta.” Shaw’s company, The Evan Grace Group, is the parent company of her publishing company and also parent company of her television and film production division. “At a young age, they (her children) will know that family is the foundation,” said Shaw. “You have to instill those values at a young age.
