The August 2013 Year of the Snake Newsletter and Calendar are now - TopicsExpress

The August 2013 Year of the Snake Newsletter and Calendar are now ready! In this month’s Year of the Snake News issue, we are featuring articles on snake conservation efforts by government agencies, non-governmental organizations and private citizens. Check out this month’s issue to learn about The Orianne Society and The Copperhead Institute. Read about what the DoD Navy Northwest Annex (VA) is doing with Canebrake Rattlesnakes, how the U.S. Forest Service is helping Narrow-headed Gartersnakes, and how we can all help conserve snakes by keeping our pets indoors. We also bust a snake myth and make a call for our upcoming 2014 Year of the Salamander logo contest. Be sure to see the newsletter for details about the 3rd Places You Have Never Herped event in North Carolina August 2-3, as well as other upcoming meetings and events! Congratulations to Seth Berry, who captured this wonderful photo of an Eastern Kingsnake at Indian Head Naval Support Facility in Maryland! Seth’s photo was chosen as the August calendar featured photo out of all photos received since our contest began. View the calendar to view our runner up August photo by Shelly Cox. To get your copy of PARC’s Year of the Snake August newsletter and calendar emailed to you, please send us a request to PARCyearofthesnake@gmail with "Request for YOS August Newsletter and Calendar" in the subject line. We are unable to post our August newsletter and calendar to the Year of the Snake website because the site is currently undergoing a full restoration after some problems the PARC website experienced recently. However, as soon as the restoration is complete, we will post our August newsletter and calendar online for free download! It’s not too late to submit for the September Year of the Snake Calendar Photo Contest! Please send your best snake photos to PARCyearofthesnake@gmail! Contact us at parcyearofthesnake@gmail with any questions, or to partner with us for the 2013 Year of the Snake!
