The BDS referendum question is in its nature a matter of picking a side. But not in the way we think or would like to think. I dont think this is a matter of a split between student population, I think this is a split between ethics, moral ideologies and the position we take as humans during times of apartheid. What we are seeing is not a division as academics and intellectuals, but a division as humans whose responsibilities ought reflect equality and opportunity, diversity and multiculturalism. People ought to vote yes, because doing anything else is complacency with oppression, and an act of perpetuating colonialism. An apartheid is a division between two people, one seen as less important as human being in themselves. This referendum question is too a division between two ideas, one the ethical and moral action of standing for human rights and the other a continuance of racial and religious inequality. Dismissing this question as a conflict of students or a division of a student body is an act of guilt, it is an act of division in itself. The time has come to pick a side. Tomorrow: vote YES to BDS. Stand on the side of human rights. End apartheid. #concordia #ConU #voteyestobds
