The Bartholomew Chapter of the Louisiana Dutch Oven Society will host the Louisiana State Camp Dutch Oven Cook-Off in Chemin-A-Haut State Park on Saturday, August 31, 2013. The contest begins at 9:00 a.m. that morning and the winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. the same day. This a three pot contest in which two person teams will cook an entree, bread, and dessert. Teams are judged in accordance with rules set up by the International Dutch Oven Society on food preparation, presentation, taste, and interaction with the public during the competition. Members of the Bartholomew Chapter will also be cooking on this day and shortly after 2:00 p.m. there should be some great food ready for sample. The public is invited to come out and watch the contest. This is will be a great time to learn about camp dutch oven cooking as there will be lots of people cooking that will be happy to try and answer your questions and share their knowledge about camp dutch oven cooking with you. There will be two person teams competing from Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. These teams are not only competing for cash prizes, but for the bragging rights of being the best Camp Dutch Oven Cooking Team in the State of Louisiana.
