The Battle between EGO and the SELF Joanna de Ângelis The - TopicsExpress

The Battle between EGO and the SELF Joanna de Ângelis The most difficult battle is to be fought within your innermost world. Nobody sees it, applauds or censures it. Its yours. Victory or defeat will belong to you in silence. No outside help can contribute to your success, nor will any situation lead you to fail. Enemies and friends reside within you, and you know them. They accompany you; for a long time you are acquainted with them, even when you persist in ignoring them. They induce you to glories and falls, to heroic acts and spectacular escapades, lifting you up towards the stars or tying you down with a load of illusions. Under disguises – which are Its strategies of immoral belligerence - the Ego lies, slanders, stimulates sensuality, fosters greed, generates hatred, envy, and creates irrationality. Uncovered, the Self loves, apologizes, surrenders, humbles itself and serves incessantly. It never bargains or conceals its higher purpose. The Ego combats and tries to suffocate the Self. The Self is the great redeemer of the Ego. The Ego threatens the peace and crams itself with futile and useless things in the unsound pursuit of unjustified domination. The Self fosters harmony and divests itself of possessions; knowing it is its own master and not influenced by the adornments devoid of real value.
