The CPI increase for the past year is 1.7% according to the federal government. Accordingly, the Montana Department of Labor and Industry will issue an official determination that the minimum wage will increase by the same amount. Applying a 1.7% increase brings the number to $8.0343. Rounding to nearest five cents should result in a new minimum of $8.05 beginning January 1, 2015. The official determination is due in about two weeks. What does this mean for low-skilled or unskilled workers?
