The Calling I held you close upon my heart, Softly fast - TopicsExpress

The Calling I held you close upon my heart, Softly fast asleep, Gently peered within your dreams, Your love I longed to keep, Your soul my boon a treasured fare, My will I could not harden, So I grew for you my love, A wondrous sacred garden, Then I laid you down to see, The works that I had wrought, Saw your smile and warmed my heart, My labour was not for naught, You wandered there and wondered more, Rest your head upon my stone, But then I saw your smile did fade, And I knew you felt alone, So sleep I sent to keep you safe, Then gently did I take, A single rib from your fragile form, Your companion I was to make, As you slept, I placed her there, Like soft sands upon the tide, I knew youd smile once again, With love now at your side, When you both awoke I saw again, The love we felt was doubled, I watched you run and play and laugh, Your mirth was never troubled, The days I made passed into nights, My wonders I gave them free, But your will was strong and wandered far, So I warned you of the tree, I bade you not to eat its fruit, For I knew what it contained, A single bite of the apple there, Was all I asked restrained, Love you see cannot be forced, Twas why I gave you will, Now youve eaten of the fruit, And youve wandered farther still, Many are you upon the Earth, Knowing sorrows song, I never meant for you to know, How love could turn to wrong, Now I know the sadness felt, And a fire now guards the tree, My little child, I love you so, Please come back to Me. - DNH 06/2014
