The Canadian Department of Justice has found the following: The meta-analysis does indicate some broad improvement in outcomes when there is a mediation program. In the following areas mediation is demonstrated to provide an improvement: (1) Measured Staff Hours Saved; (2) Measured Case Length; (3) Perception of Time Savings; (4) Proportion of Cases Successfully Settled; (5) Perceptions of Fairness; (6) Satisfaction with the Outcome; (7) Satisfaction with the Process; (8) Perception of Compliance; (9) Perceptions of Cost Savings; and (10) Measured Costs Saved. DONT FOR ONE MOMENT BELIEVE THAT THIS ANALYSIS IS SOMEHOW LIMITED TO CASES HANDLED IN CANADA. PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE, CONFLICT IS CONFLICT, MEDIATION IS MEDIATION AND CIVIL LITIGATION IS CIVIL LITIGATION. justice.gc.ca/eng/rp-pr/csj-sjc/jsp-sjp/rr07_3/p0.html
