The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, - TopicsExpress

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that the 2012 general election was the most transparent of all six elections he has supervised. He said the conduct of the four-yearly exercise has been seeing improvements from one election to the next and the latest exercise in 2012, remained the most transparent. “...this will be the most transparent elections we’ve ever had,” the EC Boss said. He also affirmed the result of the 2012 presidential contest which elected President John Mahama as president, saying he had not heard, so far, any reason to change his mind about the verdict of the election. Dr. Afari-Gyan made the observation under cross-examination by Mr. Tony Lithur, counsel for President Mahama. Under cross-examination by Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, who is counsel for the ruling National Democratic Congress, Dr. Afari-Gyan said party polling agents were issued report forms to sign to affirm that polling went on smoothly and that declared results were true representation of events.
