The Child Rights Network of Southern Africa, #CRNSA, has joined many around the world, in condemning the abduction of the more than 200 Nigerian school girls by Boko Haram. CRNSA, is a SADC regional advocacy network for childrens rights. The girls were abducted at gunpoint by the Islamic fanatics last month from their school in the town of Chibok, and their loony leader Abubaker Shekau has threatened to sell them as slaves. In a statement, the organization says it urges the Nigerian government, the West African Community, the AU and the international community, to prioritize and act expeditiously to relieve the girls from their nightmarish experience. CRNSA further says it is concerned that the abduction, which happened in a school setting, may have negative ramifications on the drive for education for vulnerable groups in Africa, as girls may in future shun school.
