The Chino Valley Unified School District’s @LIKE Program (Linking Innovation Knowledge and Education), which is implemented by the CVUSD Move Forward Program is currently recruiting youth ages 20-24, who are seeking employment, an opportunity for Work Readiness Training and a paid internship within businesses in the West End of San Bernardino County. Funding was granted by the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board (WIB); federally by the Department of Labor – Workforce Investment Act (WIA); administered by the Department of Workforce Development (WDD). The WIB builds the skills of the local workforce so they meet the needs of employers; it supports local businesses; and it helps county residents connect with well-paying local jobs. Participants must have been disconnected from both work and school for the past 90 days, be ages 19-24, and reside within the County of San Bernardino. High school drop-outs will be assisted with completing a high school diploma or GED and will receive guidance and assistance with cost of vocational training or enrollment within the local community college. High school graduates will receive guidance and assistance with cost of vocational training or enrollment within the local community college. All participants will receive assistance in obtaining the National Readiness Certificate (NRC) which is a certificate recognized by employers as have the necessary work readiness skills for entry level employment, work readiness training and an opportunity for paid work experience which may lead to permanent employment. In addition, the program will be provide the following services: cost to complete GED and/or vocational training, paid work experience, assistance with transportation and clothing necessary for the job, career interest assessment, one-on-one mentoring, an assigned life coach and many more services based on individual need.
