The Clinical Trail is underway…it is heavy…it is overwhelming…there are things he is enduring that he was not expecting…it is taking all of his focus…the volumes of fluids, chemos, blood products, antibiotics, variety of pain meds, the list goes on…their effects on his body; none of us can imagine…only he knows…we can only begin to understand if we take the time to step outside of our own understanding and humble ourselves to a position to understand his…his eyes closed most of the day…opening under waking to pain…or to take slow steps to the restroom; having to remember in his state that he is tethered to an IV pole… there are no 2 days alike…except for the unexpected.. Our friends, I will spare you the vivid details describing to you the sounds of him in pain, or the visions of him gasping for air while to recover from nausea that takes him to his hands and knees… or the thought of his struggle to eat a few bites of food… the frustration he feels inside, knowing what he wants to do…needs to do…was able to do just last week…and now physical changes happening in this first 24 hours of the clinical trial chemotherapy… Instead I tell you these things so that you can see where your prayers of encouragement, peace and hope are being dispatched to… into a small room; sometimes filled with just one more sound than he can handle, but too overwhelmed to say so… his body already being burdened with chemicals that are designed to attack the same cells that you and I depend on to keep us safe from everyday infections…confusing for us…what is it like for him to know and feel it happening in his own body… Your diligent prayer and support are fed directly to him in this time and place where he needs it most. This is the fight he is fighting. This is the fight that you are covering him for. As we reviewed the past 2 days, the ups and downs, the things to be thankful for; watching the clock turn past midnight, he said, “…please tell everyone I’m thankful for everything are doing for me..”
