The Connecticut Cover Club (AFDCS Chapter 85) has prepared two different cachets for the popular $2 Inverted Jenny Stamp. The “A” version pictures a Hartford, CT native, Mary Goodrich Jenson, the first woman in CT to earn a pilots license. This cover has a large pictorial FDOI cancel and is priced at $4. The “B” version shows Gustave Whitehead – a controversial figure in aviation history. The Connecticut legislature has declared that he was the first person to pilot an aircraft in controlled flight, which he accomplished at Fairfield, CT on August 14, 1901. This cover has a DCP cancel and is priced at $5.
