The Dash Poem by Linda Ellis I read of a man who stood to speak - TopicsExpress

The Dash Poem by Linda Ellis I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend, He referred to the dates on her tombstone from beginning to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth, And spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not how much we own, The cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love, And how we spend our dash. My beautiful friend went home to be with Jesus just a few short days ago. This poem has special meaning in that her dash made an impact on every one that she came into contact with. She saw the good in each and every person. She looked at them through the eyes of Jesus. She was compassionate, strong, courageous, a woman of honor, faithful, amazing, a true worshipper, a blessing, pure, an angel on earth, an inspiration, an encourager, and was a model of what a true Christian really is. Proverbs 31 comes to mind when I think of her. I do not have the adequate words to describe what a huge impact her dash made on so many. She loved Jesus with all her heart and she had faith that would move mountains. She made her dash count for something. She ran her race towards Heaven harder and faster than anyone I have ever met. She was on a mission. No matter her pain or physical limits she never once complained and she worshipped Jesus with passion. It was always just her and Him. I am a better person today because of her. What are you doing with your dash? Are you making it count for something or are you just aimlessly running through life as if your dash doesn’t matter. No matter who you are, someone out there is watching you and depending on you to show them how to live their dash. Life has a way of slipping away quickly. Minutes turn into hours that turn into days that turn into months that turn into years. You blink and 40 years has flown by. Before you know it you are 40 and you have done nothing to make your dash count. Jesus knew what our dash was going to accomplish long before we were born. Use it wisely and make it count! My beautiful friend I love you and I will see you real soon! Thank you for making your dash count! Save a place for me!
