The Death of Romans Seven And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. The serpent with all his subtly and craftiness in his temptation to Eve in the garden needed one more element to seal the deal, and that was, an example. For the inference that must be drawn from the story of Genesis chapter three is, that the serpent himself ate of the fruit in front of Eve, and she saw that it was good. In the same way Romans Chapter seven, Paul is used an example as to lead Gods people astray, Because they lead my people astray, saying, Peace, when there is no peace. Now the question becomes, could this really be Pauls testimony subsequent to his conversion? If it could be proved that it was actually Pauls state subsequent to his conversion, what are the ramifications of this? When we construct from principles and facts which are the objects of intuitional knowledge, and from deductions necessarily implied by such principles and facts, then and only then, we have truth. When on the other hand, mere assumptions, opinions, beliefs, conjecture, or guesses, with deductions from the same, pass over and lie at the foundation, we then have science, falsely so-called. Affirmed truth must undeniably be based upon valid principles, and all forms of error are upon mere assumptions, that is, unauthorized principles. So how shall we distinguish the true from the false? Every true judgment has and must have self evident validity. Take for an example [things equal to the same thing, are therefore equal to one another] and [ a whole is greater than any sum of its parts], [ body implies space; secession implies time; events imply cause], if we consider any one of these judgments or all of them together, we shall perceive absolutely that they, once and all, have self evident validity, and that universally; that they not only are true, but that they cannot be false, and cannot but hold true relatively to all objects and events to which they are applicable. Now, If Paul in the Chapter of Romans seven was speaking of himself as a converted Christian then in fact Paul lied when he gave testimony before the Sanhedrin And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. Moreover, if Romans seven were his true state then Paul also lied in 1 Thessalonians 2:10 when he testified Ye are our witnesses and so is God of how holy, righteous, and blameless we were among you who believed. Paul even invokes God as his witness, if this were not true then Paul lied to the Holy Spirit the same sin that Ananias and his wife committed in Acts. If Romans seven were Pauls true state as a Christian then Paul in fact is a hypocrite, a liar, and a perjurer, and he could not be approved of God to be entrusted with His Gospel. He would have impeached himself as a character witness. Moreover, what are the ramifications of this? If Paul is an admitted notorious liar, then why would anyone study his letters at all? Who in their right mind would listen to such a man as this? And what would that say to the character of God? No, those that claim that Paul in Romans seven is speaking of his state subsequent to his conversion have no validity to this claim, for the mind cannot conceive of a person being in two places at the same time, a person cannot conceive that a thing can be and not be at the same time, the mind cannot conceive that the parts are greater than the sum of the whole. All you Pastors out there who preach Romans seven as the state of the Christian ought to be fired immediately, and lead out of town on a rail. Let is suppose that a doctor was as careless as this in his practice, would he not be sued for malpractice? Or if anyone else were as careless as this for that matter? Consider this, Pastors, the blood of your congregation will be on your hands make no mistake. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
