The Deepest Root Romans 8:1 1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus... If you want to kill a weed, you have to destroy the deepest root or it will just grow right back again. Long before the marriage was broken; before the disease or sickness; before depression; before you failed...again; before poverty..... .....is stress. Beneath stress is fear. The world only knows about stress and fear. Thats all they understand. They are able neither to reach nor deal with the culprit behind them all. Down deep, beneath everything else is: CONDEMNATION. What causes people to be afraid? CONDEMNATION. Since were going back to the root of things, come now with me back to where it all began: in the garden. Long before poverty, sickness, depression or death came to Adam and Eve, they felt condemned; They hid from God. Then, by the sweat of their face (stress) they tilled the ground and ate bread. They now feared GOD; I heard Your voice and I was afraid. They had never before been afraid of God. Now, they were afraid and hid themselves. As soon as one begins feeling condemned, all these other things begin to operate in ones life: poverty, sickness and broken everything else. How do we deal with the deepest root? 1 Peter 2:24 says: 24 Who His own self bare our sins in His own {physical} BODY on the tree, that we, BEING DEAD TO SINS, {and there are no degrees of DEAD} should LIVE unto righteousness: by Whose stripes ye were healed. We are not in the process of dying: WE ARE ALREADY DEAD, that we might LIVE unto righteousness. Now, there are some law-mentality, milk-drinking baby Christians who will say righteousness means you must live right, do right, talk right, think right, act right. While I dont dispute that these things are the desired outcome, making thoughts, deeds and actions the focus will not get anyone of us there. We are transformed by beholding Jesus GLORY,.......not our GORY. No, righteousness in the New Testament, IS A GIFT. It is when we are DEAD to condemnation and guilt that we are conscious of the GIFT of righteousness. Live that.....breathe that.....share it with your friends and family. It is the GOOD NEWS!!! Notice the very last line of 1 Peter 2:24......BY WHOSE STRIPES YE WERE HEALED? Healed here refers to physical healing. What Peter is saying is that, when we are truly understand that we are DEAD with ALL finality TO GUILT AND CONDEMNATION OF SIN; understand there is NO MORE PENALTY; that we will NEVER BE PUNISHED AGAIN FOR SIN; and we live our lives from now on, conscious that we are FOREVER RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST......it will have this effect on us-------------->BY HIS STRIPES YOU ARE HEALED. It is then, and only then, that we will experience healing. Sadly, most of us humans are more aware of our shortcomings. It is so hard for us to let go of condemnation. Thats the reason Jesus said to more than one who came to Him for healing, Your sins are forgiven. As the knowledge of that fact sunk in, the person seeking healing was now enabled to receive. Most, I would venture to say, are trying to get the benefit of the last six words without implementing the other part of the verse. They cannot get it because it is only when we are free from condemnation.......of sin-consciousness......... THEN what Jesus did for us when He bore the stripes for us becomes REAL. Understanding that one principle makes us able to walk in it, to walk in victory!! Dont waste another minute feeling guilty and condemned. Paul said, There is, therefore NOW no condemnation..... All of us who believe on Jesus have already been made forever righteous by Him! AMEN! Believe Him; BE MADE WHOLE!!!!! .....and be free of the deepest root.
