The Defence Forces played a central role in todays State Ceremony to honour those executed after the 1916 Easter Rising . A Captains Guard of Honour drawn from the 28th Battalion, a Cavalry Escort drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, the Band of the 2 Bde, a Cadet Honour Guard in addition to MP Personnel and DFHQ Escorts all participated in the Ceremony. The Ceremony was led by the President and was attended by relatives of those executed , the President laid a wreath at the site of the graves and a minutes silence was observed.
