The French photographer Alain Delorme spent time in Shanghai to document life in the most vibrant and bustling metropolis full economic transformation in China, Creating more than 6000 shots to get to publish his series of 18 Totem. Men and women, migrants from the countryside to work in Shanghai, defy the laws of physics transporting enormous amounts of material stacked in unsafe structures: colorful bags, chairs, boxes of fruit ... perched precariously on each other. Totem means precisely these towering piles of goods that are boldly carried the symbol, the iconic element of the uncontrolled development of Chinese society and its urban expansion upward.
