The Holy Spirit works to convict us of sin and convince us of righteousness (see John 16:7-11). His conviction is intended to convince us to repent, which means to turn around and go in the right direction. It is normal to feel guilty when you are initially convicted of sin; but to keep feeling guilty after you have repented is not healthy, nor is it God’s will.
