The Home Energy Assistance Program is a federally funded program designed to help eligible Ohioans meet the rising cost of home heating. Households that are eligible may receive Winter Crisis funds to restore or continue their utility services. Eligibility for assistance is based on the emergency criteria and income guidelines. Geauga County residents may apply for the Winter Crisis Program at Geauga County Job and Family Services, 12480 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon until March 31. Application for assistance will be by appointment only. For additional information on applying for HEAP, or to set an appointment to apply for the Winter Crisis Program, contact Geauga JFS from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at 440-285-1299.
