The James Brown Movie Anyone wondering whether Chadwick Boseman could pull off playing James Brown need only look at the first footage of the actor that surfaced during the “Today” show on Wednesday. Boseman, along with film producers Brian Grazer and Mick Jagger, appeared on the show to discuss the upcoming Universal Pictures’ biopic on Brown titled “Get on Up. ”Throughout the interview, footage of Boseman as Brown was shown. “Get on Up,” which features a “warts and all” telling of Brown’s life story on film, is set for release on August 1. The movie will feature Viola Davis (Brown’s mom), Octavia Spencer (Brown’s aunt), Lennie James (Brown’s father) and Nelsan Ellis (Bobby Byrd). Other stars include Jill Scott, Dan Aykroyd, Keith Robinson and Craig Robinson as Maceo Parker.
