The Liberty Flames Sports Network is looking back at the moments that made 2014 special for Flames Nation. The series continues today by looking at Moment No. 3, Caroline Douglas kill to finish off Libertys thrilling five-set victory over Virginia in the Vines Center. Down two sets to one, Liberty won the fourth set 25-22 to force a fifth and decisive set against the Cavaliers on Sept. 23. The Lady Flames fell behind early in the set, trailing 10-8 after an attack error by Libertys Sierna Vorster. Liberty rallied and won four of the next six points, forcing a 12-12 tie after an attack error by Virginias Jasmine Burton. After another tie at 13-13, Liberty scored the final two points of the match, including Douglas game-high 27th kill to finish off the five-set thriller. The All-Big South performer finished the match with 27 kills, 13 digs and a .295 attack percentage. The five-set victory snapped a 30-match losing streak to Virginia. Prior to the 3-2 win (25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13) win in the Vines Center, the last time the Lady Flames had defeated Virginia was on Nov. 1, 1979.
