[The Little Voices] He was sitting alone thinking about her. Alone doesnt mean that there was no one around him. Sometimes, the absence of just one person can make you feel more lonely than you ever thought you would be. He could see things going around, people were talking, few girls were roaming around, couples in love were going hand in hand, but nothing mattered to him. All he had in his mind was her. Where could she be right now? I need to see her. he got up from his place. His eyes were searching for her in the crowd. He was unable to find her, his anxiety was rising and his heart was sinking. He was looking for her frantically all over the place. Suddenly his eyes saw something, there she was sitting amidst her friends. He sees her everyday, shes like an addiction to him. And every single time when she comes around his heart skips a beat, in that moment he totally forgets everything, pain, joy everything. Everyday he would just watch her from a distance, doing whatever she does and wonder, What is it that makes her so special? She was definitely not the only girl around but there was something about her which made her different from all others. She was laughing at something. Oh! he just couldnt help smiling watching her laugh. He was exhilarated by her joy. She was very happy and her happiness made him feel ecstatic. What a strange connection he shared with her. But in the very next moment, from a distant corner of his heart, a little voice spoke,How could she be so happy without you around? Doesnt she feel a void without you like you always do? Maybe she doesnt. Maybe you are a liability to her. When was the last you made her smile? another voice popped up in his head, All you bring her is sadness and gloom. Please stop it you both. He told the voices, feeling torn apart. But you love her., the voice from the heart said. And you have promised her that you would stop doing that. the voice from the head interrupted. Ill just leave. he decided. He looked back at her and started walking away. These voices are surely going to kill me someday. He told himself. ~ Shashank Kumar Verma
