The MSc Design Ethnography studio is planning to hit the road next Feb for a week. We want to go to a European city that is cheap to reach from Edinburgh, cheap to live/eat in, & has a cluster of companies in design research/strategy/innovation areas. While we are there well be teaching one of the modules on our programme to our students, connecting with local universities, companies and organisations, and generally doing what ethnos love to do - nosing about and making friends. Well also run 2 1-day industry focussed training courses - Observational Fieldwork for Everyone and Interviewing for Design Research. Both these are aimed at folks with no background in ethnography/anthropology. We are looking to partner with a like-minded organisation/institution to make this happen. We are looking for folks who share our values - open minded, flexible, and into rethinking what design education is and might be. But mainly - people who are not interested in inside/outside the academy boundaries. Any thoughts/leads/suggestions?
