The National Arts Council’s Silver Arts Programme advocates the meaningful possibilities seniors have in the arts. Now into its 3rd year, Silver Arts platform held from 6 to 28 September 2014 will feature tailored programmes for the Silver community. This year, we are proud to present Kopisusu by Malaysian group Udiyap Music. Date: (Sat) 6 Sep 2014 Time: 3pm & 8pm (2 shows only!) Venue: Kallang Community Club (45 Boon Keng Rd, next to Boon Keng MRT) Register for your free tickets (max 4 per person) at kopisusu.peatix Synopsis A taste of Kopisusu charmed with a strong dash of jazz - 90 minutes of seamless concert play featuring memorable Nanyang flavoured songs infused with Malayan sentiments of the 1950s and 1960s – a decade that offered a menu of whimsical yet modern entertainment & dramatic music presented in theatrical fashion, an era where the ones who entertain and those who are entertained live in, an era of all kinds of possibility. This concert play is about a one-day life of a group of materially poor but spiritually rich musicians who conceive a dream in their shabby home; that the joy of music penetrates time and space to pervade the air with a sweet, dreamy and free-flowing rhapsody that is a modern nostalgic interpretation of old-time Nanyang. Kopisusu was nominated for eight awards including Best Solo & Group Performance, Best Musical Director, Best Production Value and won the grand prize of Best Solo Performance (Yudi Yap) and Best Ensemble in Malaysia’s 11th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2014 which recognises excellence in the performing arts. Production House: Udiyap Music Udiyap Music is a production house that promotes local music in search of other arts elements and platforms. Pioneered by Yudi Yap, a Malaysian singer-songwriter and performer who specialises in oldies, Udiyap Music has continuously produced quality showcases and put forward the aura of the oldies and local music in a new impression.
