The Orphanage (2007): 4 Stars Plot: A woman moves her family into the orphanage where she was raised in the hopes of starting up a new home for children. When her son disappears in the house without a trace and the only thing she knows is that her house is haunted by children, she turns from all else except the hunt for her son. I feel like the story was original and there was a lot to it. It seemed to sort of parallel Peter Pan as a horror movie in my opinion. The twists were crazy and leave you with your jaw dropped. However, The middle of the movie was pretty drawn out before the real stuff picks up. 4.5 Casting/Acting: The cast was great. Everyone played their parts believably. I have nothing bad to day about it. Still, nothing stood out. 4 Directing/Film Quality: The directing was pretty alright. I can say that there were a few parts in the film that it felt like it was lacking. But overall, very well done. The mood was set perfectly. 4 Intensity: Very intense film. I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation. You really feel for the characters and it is quite emotional and pretty terrifying. 5 Would I watch it again: No. Despite the greatness of this film, I would not opt to watch it again. It was in all Spanish, making it a little harder to follow. Also, the ending was a twist and interesting, but knowing how it happens I am not interested in seeing the story again. However, I think they MAY be a personal thing and not the movie, so I give it a 3.5 Overall I give it a 4.0 It was good and interesting, but only worth watching once.
