The Ramon Bautista/Davao incident & my double standards (for those not in the Philippines basically a local comedian got declared as persona non grata in Davao city for calling the women hipon which is a term people use to jokingly refer to a woman with an appealing body and a face, that according to them, is otherwise): Initially I thought... the guys a comedian and he will say offensive things to make people laugh even I am guilty for enjoying the worst kinds of jokes, my friends know that. The citys response to it, though, was (in my opinion) sensitive and excessive. But on the contrary I have to say that I do commend Davao City for their advocacy against discrimination and its implementation. Do you guys think that we should be able to take a joke and exempt comedians from the consequences of harassment and discrimination (via offensive comedy, nothing personal)? Or do you agree with what Davao did?
