The Red Cross will be winding down their Storm Sandy efforts. Please make sure you register with them prior to the application deadline on July 1st - From the NY Red Cross_ · July 1, 2014 deadline for submitting completed Move-In Assistance Program applications The Red Cross will continue to accept and process applications in the order they are received. Completed applications received by July 1 will be reviewed and processed as program funding allows. In anticipation of an increase in applications to the program, the Red Cross will accept only one application per household, not multiple applications for assistance. The Red Cross will continue to work with referring case managers to expedite assistance to people in urgent need of financial assistance to address their housing needs. · Other direct financial assistance remains available The Red Cross is supporting direct financial assistance to Sandy-affected households through $13.8 million in grants to unmet needs roundtables and long-term recovery groups in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut communities that experienced the greatest devastation from Sandy. As you know, unmet needs roundtables and long-term recovery groups benefit from the support and long-term involvement of many different funders, including the United Way, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and Home Depot. Red Cross grant support will help ensure that these groups remain a key source of financial assistance to meet the longer-term needs Sandy-affected households will face. · Guidance identifying community resources The Red Cross has comprehensive listings of the sources of financial assistance for Sandy-affected households by state. Should a case management agency lack information on financial assistance resources, we encourage them to call 1-877-RED CROSS.
