KS worked with westerners to institute marks like of RugMark , GoodWeave . So many import houses in USA , Europe were directly or indirectly forced by Govts to use only RugMark and GoodWeave. Now many genuine rugmakers too never used child labor, but failed to get these marks because they didnt know how to do all paperwork . And they lost export business. The biggest beneficiary was germany , which made rugs etc using machines. Its rugs were cheaper, but werent as artistic as handmade rugs and so used to loose business to Indian rugmakers. But with people like KS, many Indian rugmakers simply could not export rugs and so business went to german companies. . The honor has multiple purposes. Many fame hungry folks in India will realize that it pays to work on agenda set to Magsasay nobel. ford foundation etc. and many will work long hours hoping that one day they will also get fame and Rs 6 crore nobel prize or Rs 50 lakg magsasay prize,
