The Senators reaction to The Oregonians non-endorsement . I think that the inability of our local paper to recognize political talent and integrity in one of its own is sad. Disagreeing with a pols philosophy of governance is no reason to not give credit where credit is due. There are many legislators that I dont agree with politically that I would be able to endorse, if I were an editor of a major daily paper, especially in the absence of an opponent that I agree with on policy. Its sad to see the paper attack someone because of the disappointment they feel in backing the wrong horse in the Republican primary which is what their move in this Senate race feels like to me.
